B.PHARM. COURSE (FOUR YEARS, 8 SEMESTERS)

The course and the admission is governed by the rules of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, Directorate of Technical Education (Govt. of Maharashtra), University of Mumbai and Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board, Mumbai. Sixty (60) seats are available for admission to First Year Bachelor of Pharmacy in two categories:

Category B : Upto 50% seats are reserved for eligible candidates belonging to Sindhi Community of Indian Nationality from all over India to be filled strictly in order of merit.

Category A : And the remaining seats shall be filled by the Directorate of Technical Education M.S., Strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Honorable Supreme Court judgments dated 31st October 2002 and the Honorable High Courts judgments.

M.PHARM. 2 years [4 terms/semester]

Duration and medium of Instruction: The course shall be of 2 years [4 terms/semester] duration with English as medium of instruction.

Governance: The course and the admission are governed by the rules of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, Directorate of Technical Education (Govt. of Maharashtra), University of Mumbai and Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board, Mumbai.

Course Work: The subjects to be taught, as core ancillary or compulsory subjects, electives, seminar topics and research projects shall be announced from time to time or shall be given by the research advisors to the scholars registered with them.

Qualification for admission and number of seats.

Admissions of Non-sponsored category candidates to M.Pharm Course –

Eligibility: - Candidates fulfilling eligibility requirements specified by the Mumbai University for admission to M.Pharm from an AICTE approved institution will be considered for admission to M.Pharm.

Admission Procedure

Admissions will be effected according to Merit-list prepared on the basis of valid GATE score only.

When GATE qualified candidates are not available, the vacant seats shall be offered to the non-GATE candidates, as per merit on the basis of B.Pharm. marks.

Stipend/Scholarships:
The present policy of the AICTE is to grant the scholarship to the entire GATE qualified candidates. The college has got no role to play about the payment of Scholarships. The Scholarship will be paid to the students subject to sanction from AICTE. The sponsored candidates shall not be eligible for Scholarship from the AICTE, irrespective of their GATE qualification, if any.

A limited number of scholarships are available for each course at some institutes from AICTE funds. These scholarships will be offered to the GATE qualified candidates only, strictly on the basis of GATE score MERIT and continue to receive the same, provided they fulfill the conditions prescribed by AICTE, from time to time.

For receiving Post-graduate scholarship a candidate must be qualified in GATE. However, a GATE qualified candidate does not automatically become eligible to receive scholarship. Scholarship should be given to the students only for one year if he/she fails in first or second semester.

Admission of sponsored category candidates to M.Pharm. Course – Eligibility:
Candidates who possess Bachelors degree in Pharmacy from Mumbai University or equivalent B.Pharm. degree of other Universities recognised by the Mumbai University for admission to M.Pharm. from an AICTE approved institution; with the minimum percentage of marks as prescribed by Mumbai University only will be eligible for admission to M.Pharm. course.

The condition of minimum percentage of marks may be waived for those candidates who are teachers either in Pharmacy Colleges/Pharmacy department in Polytechnics or in Pharmacy polytechnics approved by PCI and have been appointed before 22.11.1993 provided they are eligible for admission to that course as per the present Mumbai University rules.

Admissions to sponsored candidates shall be given in the following order of preference:

i.                    Candidates with 2 years experience sponsored by AICTE approved Educational Institution / GATE with 2 years experience and sponsored by respective organization shall be preferred.

ii.                   Candidates with 2 years Industrial experience sponsored by the respective organization.

 

Admissions shall be made on the basis of marks considered for award of degree by the respective university. Hence in case of GATE candidate sponsored by organization his GATE score shall be considered for place in merit list.

Experience mentioned above shall of minimum of 2 years of continued service in full time after acquiring B. Pharm. degree, work experience in an Industry, Educational Institute, Research Institute, Regulatory agency, Hospital, Wholesale / Retail Pharmacy or any area of pharmacy profession other than the ones mentioned above.

DISTRIBUTION OF SEATS

For Non-Sponsored Category

(i) Parent University 50%

(ii) Universities in Maharashtra which do not have post-graduate courses in Pharmacy (Presently Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological Marathwada University , Aurangabad, Swami Ramanand Tirth Marathwada University, Nanded ) 10%*

(In the order of Inter-se-merit)

(iii) Other Universities on All India basis 40% (Except parent University)

* These admissions are as per the order of Bombay High Court Bench at Aurangabad in case of Writ Petition no. 3164/97 and shall continue to be extended for the above mentioned university areas till the time approval is accorded to any institution to start Post-graduate course in Pharmacy in these University areas.

For Sponsored Category

Parent University 60%

All other Universities except parent University 40%

(If students of parent Universities are not available then the seats shall be offered to students of other Universities in the order of Inter-se-merit.)

RESERVATION:

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY [ Ph.D. (TECH)] .

QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSION:

Candidates who have acquired the degree of M.Pharm. of Mumbai' University or an equivalent M.Pharm. Degree from another University recognised thereto, with at least a second class, are eligible to apply for Ph.D.(Tech) course in one of the branches of Pharmaceutical Sciences offered by the Institution and subject to availability of seats and the consent given by the Research Guide and the Principal. The admission may not be granted on basis of inter-se-merit but will be at the discretion of the guiding teacher and the Principal.

DURATION:

The course shall be offered only by Research and shall be of minimum two calendar year duration as per the University rules which may change from time to time. The course is a full time course.

BRANCHES:

At present, Ph.D.(Tech.) courses are offered in the branches of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Analysis and Pharmaceutics. These may be amended from time to time, subject to the availability of Ph.D. recognised guides in different branches.
